Merchandising Assistant – General Merchandise

Summary

Working in close co-operation with the members of the Merchandising Services Department, Arctic Co-operatives divisions and the Member Co-operatives, the Merchandising Assistant - General Merchandise is responsible to assist in the development of merchandising, marketing plans and programs for General Merchandise.

Responsibilities

• To undertake research and participate in the development of marketing, promotional, sales and margin strategies for General Merchandise.
• Assist in the overall success of assigned categories with a keen competitive understanding of what is required to meet today's needs and the future needs of the Member Co-ops and Arctic Co-ops businesses.
• Support the procurement of special orders or enquiries that may be made from the CO-OP retail locations
• Participate and help facilitate the Tradeshow, including the vendors, assortment and ordering format
• Work closely with Arctic Ventures Marketplace to provide specific programs and assortments
• Generate reports and analyze product mix and volumes using the systems that have been made available • Generating Call to Order(CTO),flyer items and special promotional programs (e.g.FCL Buy Mart orders).This includes sending out CTOs to the Co-ops and recapping all CTO quantities.
• Assisting establishing and maintaining measurement indicators to determine the success of Qualifications
• Develop Call to Order (CTO), flyer items and special promotional programs (e.g. FCL Buy Mart orders). This includes creating the CTO, sending out CTOs to the Co-ops, and following up on orders with the suppliers.
• Assist in establishing and maintaining measurement indicators to determine the success of the General Merchandise programs.
• Assist in ensuring documentation for assigned categories are continually monitored, analyzed, reviewed and updated. Maintain up to date and accurate program files, vendor information (including vendor agreements), price lists and deal sheets.
• Develop and maintain efficient and professional relations with all suppliers to ensure the best service and value are provided to the Co-op System.
• Complete analyses and reviews of the services, pricing and overall value that all suppliers provide to the Co-op System; including submission, tracking and filing of annual supplier volume/rebate agreements.
• Develop and maintain a wide range of tools such as product guides, pricing recommendations/spreadsheets, templates and plan-o-grams to assist Member Co-operatives in the efficient and effective management and operation of their retail stores.
• Generate reports for annual budget and resupply processes.
• Assist in the development of best assortments within the assigned categories.
• Obtain necessary information from member Co-ops and outside vendors to ensure system is accurate and up to date.
• Maintain effective supplier relationships and assist with negotiating supply programs, volume pricing and discounts.
• Generate and analyze reports from the system to analyse trends and sales results to make suggested changes in the assortment.
• Develop and maintain a unique e-commerce product assortment. Continually review assortment to ensure it is competitive in the online marketplace.
• Responsible for the annual co-ordination of resupply for assigned categories.
• Work closely with vendors in assigned categories to select and manage product assortment for the annual Arctic Co-ops tradeshow for Member Co-ops.
• Other duties as assigned.
