Manager of Governance and Member Relations
Summary
Reporting to the Vice President, Governance & Member Relations and as part of the Governance & Member Relations Team, the Manager is responsible for all aspects of democratic structure and for ensuring requirements for board meetings, annual meetings, and special meetings are completed. The incumbent is responsible for fostering relationships with Member Co-op Board of Directors, providing support to ensure records and meetings are maintained according to the bylaws. This includes but is not limited to, annual general meeting, annual returns, and co-op board listing. The incumbent is also responsible for leading the sustainability and environmentally friendly, best practices, programs, and initiatives for the federation.
Qualifications
• Post-secondary education in a relevant field such as, Business or Governance; • Knowledge of the Co-operative business model and the Arctic Co-op system; • Proven experience working within a governance role, with a minimum of two years in a supervisory capacity; • Proven leadership skills; experience supervising in a unionized environment would be an asset; • Superior computers skills and knowledge of word processing software (MS Office 2007: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat XPro, and Outlook); • Superior organizational skills with excellent attention to detail and accuracy; • Exceptional verbal, written communication, and interpersonal skills; • Demonstrated experience in multi-tasking, working under pressure in an organized manner, and meeting strict deadlines; • Experience working within a diverse, culturally sensitive environment; • Ability to work flexible hours with periodic weekends and evenings; • Available to travel periodically.
